Assists the manager in assessing, planning, organizing, and implementing successful maintenance of patient records and organizational and administrative operation of the Health Information Management Services Department Serves as resource for staff regarding medical record content and regulatory requirements. Supervises clerical staff to include assigning duties, checking work, and handling disciplinary issues; assists physicians, Business Office, and other medical records requestors by pulling records, answering questions, and performing follow-up; assists in interviewing applicants and makes personnel recommendations; assists in completing annual performance evaluations; prepares personnel schedules and coordinates with the department manager; active participant (when required) in Revenue Cycle activities and HIPAA Task Force/Team; attends medical staff committee meetings as needed. Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization’s values; adheres to hospital policies including confidentiality; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required; related duties as required. Will possibly transition to Director position.
Salary: Negotiable based on experience
Bachelor’s degree in a Health Information Management program accredited by AHIIME, current certification by the AHIMA as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
Three years of medical records supervisory experience and current membership in the AHIMA is preferred. RHIT certification with three to five years of medical records supervisory experience and current membership in the AHIMA will be considered.
Salary: Negotiable based on experience.
